60 YEARS AS A TOOLMAKER

An increasing part of our operations involves the rebuilding and alteration of pressure die casting tools. As well as making changes to the detail geometry requested by the end customer, we can, for example, adapt a die casting tool for use with new casting machines, or alter machining allowances, ingates, vents and vacuums. In some cases we have rebuilt existing tools into prototype tools for making new, similar items.
In these contexts we often work with “foreign” tools /-/ that is, tools that we did not originally make. Of course it is then helpful if the customer also supplies the relevant 3D models and other design documentation but even if these are completely lacking we can usually recreate the necessary geometry, for instance with the aid of a measuring machine.
